Phuket
In Phuket there is a wide choice of accommodation ranging from very good value 450 baht to 600 baht a night comfortable guesthouses with a swimming pool and restaurant to very expensive 6 star mega luxury hotels. The areas that we have checked out are in the southern half of Phuket island, they are Kata beach, Chalong, Rawai beach and Nai Harn beach.
1. Chalong, Rawai beach and Nai Harn beach.
The Chalong, Rawai beach and Nai Harn beach areas are on the southern tip of Phuket island, they are the more quiet areas in Phuket, this is where a lot of foreign expatriates live. Nai Harn beach is one of the nicest beaches on the island, Rawai beach is very close to Nai Harn beach.
At both Nai Harn beach and Rawai beach there are some excellent inexpensive restaurants where you can dine with a view over the sea. At Rawai beach there are also some nice little beach bars. Nikita bar at the south end is a great little bar, with no bar girls or anything like that.
Chalong is a bit further inland but is very central, from there you can reach other parts of the island easily by bus or other forms of transportation, it's also very close to a harbour from where boats leave to the many islands that surround Phuket.
2. Kata beach.
Kata beach lies just a bit further north of Nai Harn beach ,it's just a 15 minute drive from there. Kata is a bit more touristic but thanks to the barely visible Club Med hotel which covers most of the area behind the beach, this beach has remained very nice. At Kata Centre, which is just a bit further inland, there are shops, restaurants, travel agencies, bars etc. In the high season Kata is a busy place but in the low season it's usually nice and quiet.
KATA BEACH ACCOMMODATION
BUDGET/MID RANGE ACCOMMODATION.
Just behind Kata beach at the south end with a view over the beautiful bay of Kata lie "DA'S BUNGALOWS". Their very spacious rooms all have cable tv, hot water and a choice of airconditioning or fan. The beach is just a few hundred meters away. Their airconditioned rooms go for 600 baht in the low season and 1200 baht in the high season, the rooms with fan cost 500 baht in the low season and 1000 baht in the high season. Tel: 076 333055.
 In the same area is the "FLAMINGO RESORT", their rooms are a bit smaller than at Da's bungalows but still nice. The airconditioned rooms go for 600 baht in the low season and 1200 baht in the high season.

HIGH END ACCOMMODATION.

CHALONG ACCOMMODATION
BUDGET/MID RANGE ACCOMMODATION.
One of the nicest guesthouses I've come across is the SHANTI LODGE, they have very nice rooms and a swimming pool and an excellent restaurant, they are located about 2 kilometres north of Chalong roundabout. Their fan rooms with shared bathroom go for 550 baht in the low season and 850 baht in the high season. Rooms with a fan and private bathroom go for 650 baht in the low season and 950 baht in the high season. Another very nice place in the Chalong area is the "BIG A RESORT", they are located close to the Chalong roundabout on the way to rawai beach. This is a small bungalow resort in a nice area with coconut plantations. There is a swimming pool and a restaurant. All bungalows have cable tv, hot water and airconditioning. In the low season their bungalows go for 650 baht a night, with breakfast for 2 people included 850 baht a night. In the high season the price is 1200 baht for a bungalow only and 1400 baht for a bungalow with breakfast for 2 people included.

NAI HARN BEACH ACCOMMODATION
BUDGET ACCOMMODATION.
On the side of Nai Harn bay is a small pretty beach called Ao Seine beach, here you can find the "AO SEINE BUNGALOWS". It's a very quiet and laid back place ,it's as if time has stood still here for the last 20 years. There's a restaurant by the beach with a great view over the bay. Right next to Ao Seine beach there are several other little beaches with smooth boulder formations in between, the coral reef is very good for snorkeling. Their bungalows go for 500 baht in the low season and 700 baht in the high season, discounts are possible for longer stays. It's necessary to have some form of transportation here as it's a little remote, although nai harn beach is only a 10 to 15 minute walk away.

RAWAI BEACH ACCOMMODATION
BUDGET ACCOMMODATION.
 Inland from Rawai beach is the very good value "orchid garden", they have nice rooms in a big garden with a choice of 2 swimming pools, they also have motorbikes for rent, their rooms go for 450 baht a night.
MID RANGE ACCOMMODATION.
Not far from Rawai beach heading towards Chalong is the "VIGHIT RESORT", they are located by the sea in Chalong bay. They have very nice bungalows and rooms by the sea surrounded by large grassy areas and coconut trees. The swimming in the sea here is not so good because it's a bit rocky but they have a nice swimming pool and Nai Harn beach, one of the nicest beaches in Phuket ,is nearby.

Near Vighit resort on the same beach in Chalong bay is the " FRIENDSHIP BEACH " boutique resort, a cozy place with very nice accommodation, a swimming pool and a restaurant with excellent food. In the low season their smaller rooms with airconditioning, hot water and cable tv go for 1200 baht, in the high season 2000 baht. In the low season their bigger rooms with 2 beds, aircon, tv and hot water go for 3800 baht and in the high season 5800 baht. CHUMPHON
In Chumphon we are based at Tung Wa Laen beach, at this nice beach you find a small laid back community with bungalow resorts, beach bars and some excellent restaurants, most of the accommodation is in the form of bungalows right by the beach. The price for most places is between 300 and 800 baht, for longer stays discounts are always possible. Chumphon town where you can find nightlife, some international restaurants, department stores, travel agencies and everything else you can usually find in towns is about a 20 minute drive away.
BUDGET TO MID RANGE ACCOMMODATION.
At the northern end of Tung Wa Laen beach is a small bungalow resort called "sea beach bungalows". This small friendly resort has bungalows with airconditioning, hot water and T.V (thai) for 600 baht a night. The cheaper rooms which are basic but nice with a fan and bathroom go for 300 baht a night, discounts are possible for longer stays.This resort is near a very good restaurant and an internet cafe. We are based at these bungalows.
Right next to sea beach bungalow resort is another nice resort called "sea beach resort", they have very nice spacious bungalows in a nice garden, with airconditioning, hot water and T.V (thai) for 800 baht a night with discounts for longer stays.
 Also there is the Clean Wave resort towards the middle of Tung Wa Laen beach,their nice bungalows with hot water, TV (thai) and airconditioning go for 800 baht a night, their website address is www.cleanwave-resort.com
MIDDLE TO HIGH RANGE ACCOMMODATION.
At the southern end of Tung Wa Laen beach is the "Cabana Resort". Their bungalows and rooms have airconditioning, fan and cable TV. There is also a swimming pool. They have a big buffet breakfast every morning for 150 baht. You can book the resort here: Chumphon Cabana

HUA HIN
There is plenty of accommodation options in Hua Hin from seven 5 star resorts down to small family run guesthouses. The town also has over 50 small and mid-range hotels catering for every budget. Hua Hin center is quite small so easy to negotiate and the small resort of Khao Takiab with its wide flat beach is only 7km further south.
